“Crafty Planet is a rip-off. They sell googily eyes for thirty-five cents a pair. Instead, I go to Michael’s and buy googily eyes for twenty cents a pair because Crafty Planet is, again, such a rip-off.”
Clearly, the person who scolded my wife for taking sewing classes at Crafty Planet should purchase googily eyes wholesale, should they purchase so much in volume that such a price difference translates to many dollars lost.
Moreover, price should not be the only one factor in choosing between two retailers who sell googily eyes. Does Crafty Planet source their googily eyes from an order of cloistered nuns in the Andes mountains who only use the finest Italian acrylics? Could Michael’s be selling the cheapest sweatshop-made googily eyes from Malaysia? Should one support a nationwide chain like Michael’s over a locally-owned independent business such as Crafty Planet?
At the heart of the matter is this question: what other problems might one individual have if one is paying attention so closely to the prices of googily eyes? Think about it.
