Staying up way late because we have no spare pillowcases and my wife left the drier on ‘fluff’, so the previous attempt to dry my pillow shrouds failed completely. Here is what is new with me:
1. Starting a business is fun. I like to conceptualize. I like to analyze. I like to drink at night and research. There’s some legislation in the senate that I’m keeping an eye on that might make starting a first time business easier. Damn, it feels good to be a gangster. My portent of catered burritos, beer, and laughing seems genuine.
2. Running into people you used to be friends with is always weird. I like being the bigger person. I like to act like I forgot about whatever came between us and offering to shake hands. Keep yourself unencumbered by such things and keep an eye looking forward. That’s my advice. A wise man once said “The future; because there is always more of it.”
3. A friend of mine confessed to liking aggressive music less as he got older, which kind of got me thinking: does age have a pacifying effect on one’s self? I hope not. I don’t believe that I will be bitter as time goes forward, but I hope to be more solidified in my identity: open to new stuff & not an ass. A lot of the energy once dedicated angst I felt when I was 19 has been rerouted into my love for pizza and beer with no loss in intensity. It should also go without saying that good music should remain timeless.
4. I am a husband, father, and a law-abiding citizen. I love freedom and a neatly made bed. I love the arts, politics of the day, and appreciating wines. I also love Sam McPheeters’ “Punishment Bathroom”, as heard on his myspace page. And I vote.
